Tapathon 2024: Tapping for a Cause!

On 17th November 2024, we were thrilled to join the national Tapathon event at The Howard Venue in Swanley, Kent. With members and friends coming together, it was a day filled with rhythm, joy, and a fantastic sense of community – all for a wonderful cause!

What Is Tapathon?

Tapathon is a nationwide annual event held in support of BBC Children in Need, bringing together tap dancers of all ages and abilities to perform the same routine, at the same time, on the same day across the UK.

The event offers two versions of the routine – simplified and advanced – so everyone, regardless of age or experience, can take part. Even better, Tapathon may contribute to a world record attempt for the largest number of people tapping simultaneously across multiple venues. The current record stands at 7,596 participants, and we were excited to do our part to help break it!

What Happened on the Day?

Our day kicked off at 11:00 am with learning the routine, creating a fun and inclusive space for dancers to perfect their moves. Here’s how the schedule looked:

• 11:00 – Learn the routine together

• 12:15 – Break and photos 

• 12:45 – Final run-through of the routine

• 13:00 – The big record attempt!

The energy in the room was incredible, and it was a joy to see so many tappers uniting for such a meaningful cause.

Raising Money for BBC Children in Need

We’re delighted to share that, thanks to everyone’s efforts, we raised an amazing £130 for BBC Children in Need! 💛 Every shuffle, tap, and stomp made a difference, and we couldn’t be prouder of our participants for their enthusiasm and support.

Now, we eagerly await the results to see if we helped break the world record. Fingers crossed! ✌️
